Some Coronavirus Patients Show Signs of Brain Ailments

A small portion of patients with severe COVID-19 have also developed brain impairments such as headaches, inflammation, numbness, and seizures. These symptoms may indicate that in some cases, the virus has the ability to enter the brain. Elderly patients with severe cases of COVID-19 sometimes present without the typical respiratory symptoms but may present with neurological symptoms ranging from confusion to swelling in the brain. Further investigations and studies ought to be conducted before anything concrete can be said, but these neurological findings join other unusual symptoms that present with COVID-19 such as diminished smell and cardiac problems.
