The Canadian government is working with several Canadian companies to produce up to 30,000 ventilators, which will increase the number of ventilators in Canada approximately six-fold. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that he hopes that we will not be needing all 30,000 ventilators, and that if we end up making more ventilators than Canada needs, we will be able to share them with other countries. In terms of securing other equipment, Canada has reached a deal with the US government such that 3M N95 masks will be imported. The government has found sources for 230 million surgical masks of which over 16 million have already been delivered.
