The Canadian government has recently unveiled a new online tool, Wellness Together Canada (https://ca.portal.gs), that seeks to connect Canadians with digital mental health and substance-use support. This comes on a day that the Mental Health Association of Canada sounded the alarm that the COVID-19 pandemic is already showing signs of far-reaching mental health impacts, from healthcare professionals, to isolated Canadians, to those who have seen their usual supports fall away during the country-wide lockdown. This is compounded by already underfunded mental health programs prior to the pandemic. They warn that they anticipate the mental health impacts will affect Canadians in the months and years ahead and are calling for increased support for people and programs now, and in the future.
