On Saturday, a group of approximately 100 protesters gathered outside Queen’s Park to call on the Ontario government to reopen the economy and ease COVID-19 emergency measures which have forced businesses to shut down and mandated social distancing to prevent spread of the virus. Premier Doug Ford calls protesters “a bunch of yahoos” who are putting the health and welfare of every Ontarian at risk. Ford states that he understands the frustration people are feeling following the month-long shutdown but stresses that Ontarians must remain responsible when it comes to easing the restrictions in place.
