Ontario to maintain group size restrictions amid rising COVID-19 cases, crowded parks

Provincial leaders singled out Toronto’s Trinity Bellwoods Park, where large crowds gathered on the weekend, as a reason for the delay.

Ontario is finding an upward trend of new daily cases with active cases up by about 20% in the last week. This comes as Premier Doug Ford expanded the coronavirus testing guidelines, stating that anyone who feels like they need a test should get one regardless of symptoms. There are only 859 patients in Ontario hospitals with a confirmed case of COVID-19 which is the fewest in more than a month. Due to the recent increase in new daily cases and the crowding of parks last weekend like Toronto’s Trinity Bellwoods Park, restrictions on large group gatherings will remain in place.
